Meet Irma Sandate
A party built to win requires a foundation built on precision, organization,
and a deep commitment to the community.
I have spent my life ensuring our institutions work for the people.
I am ready to bring that dedication to the state party.
Before committing my time to grassroots organizing, I spent over two decades as a public school educator and campus leader.
My career includes leadership roles across Texas school districts as an elementary and middle school Principal in the Corpus Christi and Houston Independent School Districts.
I’ve managed large leadership teams, dozens of teachers and support staff and school communities–proving my capability to direct complex organizations with empathy and discipline.
My leadership has always extended beyond the schoolyard.
I testified and presented directly before the Texas House of Representatives in Austin, advocating for public school funding, teachers, and structural educational resources.
My achievements include a Master of Science in Secondary Education, a Principal Certification, a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, and an Associate Degree in Court Reporting.
Growing up in Corpus Christi, the lesson of what it means to be a Democrat wasn’t something I read in a textbook. I learned it from my mother.
When sanitation workers protested, my mother didn’t just sympathize – she organized. She packed kids in the car with warm tacos, drove to the protest and handed out breakfast to the workers.
As she drove away, mom leaned her head out the window, raised her fist high, and shouted “¡Viva la huelga!” That relentless spirit defined our home.
Years later, when we became young voters ourselves, my mother treated Election Day like a sacred family mobilization. She would call us repeatedly, checking in to ensure each of us had made our voices heard at the ballot box.
For my family, voting was never a suggestion, it was an active, non-negotiable duty.
This June, I am returning home to Corpus Christi, not just as an educator or a county secretary, but as a daughter of this community who still believes in the power of solidarity.
I’m running to be your TDP Secretary to ensure that the grassroots organizers driving our movement have the structural, organized support they need to win.
Because when we organize, we win. ¡Viva la huelga, y viva Tejas!
